Trend vs Range: How to Tell the Difference | Borearis
A trend makes higher highs and higher lows, or the reverse. A range keeps bouncing between two levels.
How to tell
Mark the last three swing highs and lows. Both rising is an uptrend, both falling a downtrend, overlapping is a range.
Why it matters
Breakout strategies lose in ranges; trend-following loses at reversals.
Use the session clock to trade the hours when the regime is clearest.
