This wick is huge. Who got trapped? Read the candle

Look at this wick. Someone just got trapped. The question is who. Buyers, or sellers?

What you will learn
  1. The wick points at who got rejected: lower wick = sellers, upper wick = buyers.
  2. Where it happens matters: a wick through a level that snaps back is a trap.
  3. The next candle confirms it. A close beyond the wick means the trap is off.
  4. Here, sellers who chased the break got trapped as price climbed the next day.

Quiz at the end: A huge upper wick at resistance. Who's trapped: buyers, sellers, or nobody yet?

Full transcript

Look at this wick. Someone just got trapped.

The question is who. Buyers, or sellers?

Rule one: the wick points at whoever got rejected.

A long lower wick means price dived, then got pushed right back up. Sellers were rejected.

A long upper wick is the mirror. Buyers were rejected.

Rule two: where it happened matters.

This one dipped below a support that had held for over a day.

Anyone who sold that break sold near the low. Then the candle closed back above support.

So the answer: the sellers got trapped.

Rule three: the next candle confirms it.

Here, the next candle closed green. The one after broke above the wick candle's high.

Price then climbed to about 1.4250 the next day.

But if the next candle closes below the wick instead, the trap is off. Stay out.

Save this. Lower wick, sellers rejected. Upper wick, buyers rejected. At a level, it matters more. Next candle confirms.

Your turn. A huge upper wick at resistance. Who's trapped: buyers, sellers, or nobody yet? Comment below.
